Frequently Asked Questions

What level class should I attend?

We recommend that all students who are new to yoga attend a 10 weeks beginners course to understand the basics of yoga before progressing. Improvers classes are aimed at students who have some basic knowledge of yoga and who are now ready to learn at a slightly faster pace. General level classes are suitable for all, but we recommend that students have some previous experience of yoga.

Do I need to bring my own equipment?

We recommend all students bring their own mat and equipment to class unless you are attending a class at an equipped studio (e.g Yoga Den). Please contact your teacher to discuss equipment requirements and what alternatives you could use until you decide to commit to regular classes.

For general level students we recommend bringing a yoga mat, 4 blocks, 2 bricks, a blanket and a belt.

For beginners just starting out, we recommend bringing a yoga mat, blocks and a belt.

You can purchase yoga equipment from Yoga Matters or speak to your teacher who can order items on your behalf.

How do I access an online class?

If you are joining a Zoom class, your teacher will send you a link before the lesson.  You will need a device with a screen large enough to see your teacher, and should try to set yourself up so your teacher can see you on your mat.  Please join a few minutes before the class starts to check your setup.  It's best to choose 'Speaker View' so you can see your teacher clearly, and you'll be asked to mute your microphone when the class starts.

If I can’t attend a class during the block, can I make it up another time?

If your teacher offers more than one class a week, you can make up a missed class during the same block. Please speak to your individual teacher for more information.

Can I turn up on the day without booking?

Pre-booking is advised. Please contact the teacher directly to secure your place. Drop-in places are available, but must be booked in advance.

Can I try a class before committing to a block?

Some teachers offer a free beginners taster class before committing to a 10 week block. Contact the teacher for more details.
